Q. How do I become a member? What are your rates, fees, hours and amenities?
A. Currently we are running a Special Offer for new members. We’re calling it our 30/30 Special. You pay just $30.00 down as a one-time processing fee and the just $30.00 per month. There are no long term commitments tied to this membership and you can cancel with 30 days notice at any time. Obviously, this offer is set up through an electronic funds transfer billing method (on the 5th of each month) where we’ll charge $30.00 to a credit card, checking account or saving account. If monthly drafts are not your thing, you can purchase a one year membership for just $300.00

Q. Can I come by to tour Eagle Fitness?
A. You're welcome to come by during health club hours every day, including weekends - no appointments necessary and no need to call first. Front desk people are busy but keep an eye on the vestibules for people who are interested in looking at the gyms. If you are unable to raise a front desk person's attention, please call 816.781.8600.

Q. Is Eagle Fitness a beginner-friendly gym?
A. Eagle Fitness is a very beginner-friendly gym. We offer a wide variety of classes, and also offer a free 30-minute introductory session with one of our personal trainers which would help you to learn some weight training fundamentals as well as encouraging proper technique.

Really, all of our classes are beginner friendly and are designed so that you can go at your own pace, as well as to be continually challenging as you progress. We offer a range of interest-specific classes - Boot Camp, Body Sculpt, Spinning, Pilates, Group Cycling, Cardio Mix, Yoga, Youth Speed Classes, Functional Training - in the hopes that members will find something they truly enjoy and therefore will be encouraged to stick to.

We also have a wide variety of personal trainers available. (Personal trainers charge $40 per hour or $25 per half hour.) Some members elect to hire one for a short period in order to help them acclimate to a gym setting, a lifestyle change, and/or for support and encouragement. Many members use a personal trainer long term, too, and even try working out with a few of them until they find a perfect match - or just to change it up a bit.

Q. Do you offer guest passes?
A. We do offer a one day guest pass which can be purchased at the front desk for $7.00 and is good for both gym use and attendance to any of our group classes. Note: If you decide to join Eagle Fitness on the day of your visit, we will apply this $7.00 towards your membership.
For multiple visits, we offer a Non-Member Punch Card which is good for 10 visits. The card costs $60.00 and is good for both use of the general facility and group classes.

Q. What do I need to do to enroll in one of your classes?
A. Just sign the class schedule book (3-ring binder) after scanning in at the front counter when you arrive. All Eagle Fitness guests and members are welcome to join us in any of our Group Classes.

Q. Are classes cancelled for holidays?
A. Yes. If there is a major holiday or a snow day for the Liberty School District, our classes will be canceled. Also, a class may be canceled if an instructor/trainer is ill. Q. Could you recommend a personal trainer?
A. We recommend all of our trainers - otherwise we wouldn't have them here! We have a bio page for each trainer; reading about each might help you to narrow it down a bit. Feel free to just walk up to a trainer if you see him/her in the gym, although please be respectful if he/she is with a client. Q. Do I need to be a member of the health club to tan?
A. No, not at all. Come in any time to try one of our beds at any time. Our prices range from $6.00 for one tan in our level-one bed to $8.00 for a single tan on our level-two. However, if you are planning on tanning for a month our rates are $25.00 for level one and $28.00 for level two. To see our rates in greater detail, Please Click Here.

Q. I am an Eagle Fitness member and want to add on a family member also. What are my options?
A. If this family member is a second member to Eagle Fitness it would be just $25.00 joining fee and $25.00 per month. If it is a third member to Eagle Fitness it would be just $25.00 joining fee and $10.00 per month. No Long term contracts for this person. For the Paid-in-Full rate just multiply it out without the joining fee. For instance: 2nd member = $300.00 (includes tax); 3rd member = $120.00 (includes tax). And remember…as usual all memberships include unlimited attendance at any of our group classes along with access to the gym area.

Q. I am not a member of Eagle Fitness but will be home from school this summer. Do you have any summer specials for college students?
A. Absolutely! We love having college students at our health club in the summer. They bring a vibrant energy to the atmosphere. For just $99.00 they are good to go for the three months summer break (remember…this pass includes group classes). And for an additional $30.00 they can add on unlimited tanning (level one) for the full three months.

Q. Gym Etiquette
A. Common Courtesies: We mention gym etiquette immediately when you sign up in the hopes that you will be more aware of how your behavior affects other members, and visa versa. Remember: we reserve the right to cancel memberships. So be nice.

Put Your Weights Back: Picking up after yourself is a common courtesy. Please be considerate of other members and do so!

Grunting: It's really not necessary to scare the daylights out of innocent exercisers by grunting loudly and/or screaming your way through your workout.

I'm Sorry, But You Smell: It's normal to be a bit funky smelling after you work out. But if you just plain stink all of the time, a staff member may pull you aside and tell you so.

Q. Why can't I talk on my phone in the gym?
A. Cell Phone Etiquette: You can talk on your phone in the gym. But it's RUDE when it interferes with other members' ability to enjoy a class or work out session. Turn your phone off during class. And keep your voice (respectfully) down when you're in the gym.

Q. I've lost an item and I think I left it at the gym. Is there a lost an found?
A. We hold found items in dated envelopes at the front desk of each location. Just ask a front desk person for assistance and he/she will be glad to look to see if your stuff is in our lost and found.

Q. I'd like to cancel my membership. How do I get started?
A. We Love You Even When You Cancel: You MUST either submit your request in writing by filling out a cancellation notice or e-mail us. As stated on all sign-up contracts we ask for 30 days notice as we have a third party handle our monthly financial transactions (EFT). Billing dates are on the 5th of the month.

Q. I would like to change/update my billing information. How can I do that?
A. Just come in and ask for an Account Change Form, write down the new billing information (bank name, routing number, account number, etc.) and we’ll communicate the information to our billing company shortly thereafter. There is no fee for this change.

Q. I want to cancel one of my gym services (Personal Training/Tanning/etc.). How do I do that?
A. Just come in and fill out a cancellation form and specifically state which service you would like to drop while still maintaining your membership.

Q. I'm a monthly member ... what happens if my credit card is declined?
A. We receive a monthly statement of “declines” and will contact you to let you know this has taken place. Most often our members just pay their dues shortly thereafter. However, this fee will roll-up to the following month if you prefer.

Q. I want to work for Eagle Fitness. How do I apply?

Q. I have cellulite in my legs and butt and want to get rid of it. Which exercise is best for this?
A. Cellulite is a problem for many men and women. However, the ability to “spot reduce” is a fallacy. To reduce cellulite you must reduce your calorie intake, (thus losing weight) and increase your energy output through exercise. My suggestion would be to get with one of our trainers and have him or her create a workout program designed just for you.

Q. Is there a web site that shows the proper form for performing the exercises the trainer outlined for me in the orientation? I seem to forget one from another as soon as I grab my card.

WORKOUT MYTH

Myth:
Strength training makes females too bulky

Comments:
This is a popular mindset with many female athletes that we have worked with. Simply look at some elite female athletes like Mia Hamm, Lisa Leslie, etc. These athletes certainly train with weights and no one would accuse them of having manly physiques. Strength training will improve performance and reduce injury if done correctly.


WORKOUT MYTH

Myth:
Static stretching prepares you to compete/practice

Comments:
Static stretching actually reduces power output. Athletes should prepare for practice by doing a dynamic warm up that moves from basic, low intensity movements to faster, more explosive movements as the muscles loosen up. You want to simulate movements that athletes will go through in practice or a game. What happens when you try and stretch a cold rubber band? In a way, you can think about your muscles the same way.

Myth:
You can train hard every day

Comments:
The workout itself is only a piece of the training puzzle. It is the time between intense workouts, the recovery, where athletes make their improvements. And generally it takes 36-48 hours to recover from high intensity training. If athletes are doing too much, too often they become over trained. Coaches can expect to see an increase in injuries, kids complaining that they are sore more often, decreased performance, higher levels of fatigue earlier in games. It’s always better to under train an athlete than over train. Err on the side of caution to get maximal results.


WORKOUT MYTH

Myth:
Strength training will stunt a young athlete’s growth

Comments:
This is another myth held over from a different time. On a daily basis, kids as young as 7 years old are playing organized sports year round, tackling, getting tackled, sliding, falling etc.. These loads on the body can have a much greater physical impact than a well designed strength training program. Though we don’t usually begin training with weights with pre pubescent athletes, they can benefit from body weight exercises such as push ups, lunges, sit ups, etc. This will increase muscular efficiency, speed up recovery, improve coordination and overall speed.

Myth:
Flexibility won’t help you get faster

Comments:
So many athletes suffer injuries or compete below their capacity because poor flexibility inhibits their range of motion and speed. We see this often in the hips and hip flexors where athletes’ stride length appears conspicuously short. Most often we see this in male athletes who will lift weights, train hard and then skip out on their cool down and flexibility work.
